Hamilton's free science scheme now in blocks!

Hamilton's science planning now comes in a more modern, more transparent format. Our new blocks make it super easy for you to see what objectives are covered, what resources you need and what the teaching looks like. The same wonderful creative and investigative approach still underlies each and every block.

Our new science blocks have the same investigative content as our plans had, but the new format allows you to see what's there and to tailor the teaching to your school's scheme of work as well as to you and your class. The scheme covers all of the National Curriculum's statutory science content with a creative and investigative approach in regular 6-session blocks that fit into half-term slots. Each block of sessions includes an intriguing hook that leads to a motivational outcome.

For example, our Year 6 Autumn Term electricity block is called 'Electric Celebrations!'. Dare you enter the Dragons’ Den and market your very own inventive festive lights decoration? Use motors, switches, bulbs and buzzers to make your product stand out from the crowd. This block of six sessions covers electric circuits, the effects of voltage and number of components on a circuit, resistance and circuit diagrams.

The new format blocks are currently available for all single year Science.

Year 1, Year 2Year 3,Year 4, Year 5, Year 6.

Each block includes:

  • supportive clearly-explained teacher background information for every block

  • list of key scientific concepts for each year group

  • assessment activities and ideas
  • built-in differentiation

  • comprehensive resources
  • opportunities for children to meet the full range of scientific investigative approaches including pattern seeking, exploring, problem solving, fair testing, and analysing secondary sources

Best of all, it's still all FREE!

Hamilton's mixed age science planning helps you get around the knotty problems of teaching two separate years' materials at the same time! Mixed age planning is currently being configured in the new blocks and will be available before the start of Spring Term. It will include Spring for Set B of Year3/4.

Start planning for next year now: Year 1, Year 1/2, Year 2Year 3, Year 3/4, Year 4, Year 5, Year 5/6, Year 6.
